Celia: Extending the lifecycle of digital archives

When the accessible library Celia needed help maintaining their digital archive, Verticom helped them find a cost-effective solution that supports Celia’s sustainable development goals.

Celia is the expert center for accessible literature and publishing in Finland that supports equality in reading and learning. Celia is part of the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Annually, Celia produces audio and braille books for about 30% of all fiction and non-fiction published in Finland. Currently, the selection includes approximately 45,000 different audiobooks, comprising over 2,000,000 audio files.

When the topic of renewing their digital archive became relevant, Celia needed a partner who could help them explore their options and find the optimal way forward.

Verticom’s expert team designed a solution that enabled Celia to extend the lifespan of their current system. Not only was the solution a cost-effective alternative to a full-scale system renewal project, but it also supports Celia’s sustainable development goals.
